How I Help

IBCLC Breastfeeding and Lactation Support in Denver, Colorado

As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), I’m clinically trained to provide you with the highest level of breastfeeding and lactation support. Whether you’re breastfeeding or chestfeeding, providing expressed human milk for your baby, incorporating formula, or are ready to wean, I’ll listen to your goals and make them my own. Feeding your baby can feel confusing and overwhelming; let me provide you the help you deserve so that your family can thrive.

Initial consultations include two weeks of follow up support through secure messaging. As breastfeeding challenges are often complex and require ongoing care, follow up consultations are available to established clients at a reduced rate.

What Happens During A Virtual Visit

Step 1: Schedule

View my schedule and choose a day and time that works best for you and your baby. Do the times seem a bit non-standard? That’s because I can be available to you during nighttime hours as I am currently away from Mountain Time. Please reach out to me to discuss alternative times for appointments.

Step 2: Share

You will be sent an easy to complete intake form that provides me lots of helpful information about you, your baby, and your feeding challenges. As I cannot be there to be hands on with you and baby, I will also provide detailed, but easy to follow instructions on how to capture photos and videos that will provide me with an immense amount of information, which helps us get to the root cause of your feeding struggles. All photos and videos are sent and viewed on a HIPAA compliant platform to ensure your privacy. Having this information ahead of our visit allows us to maximize our time together and immediately begin working towards your unique infant feeding goals.

Step 3: Connect

We will ‘meet’ online using a HIPAA compliant video platform. During our visit, we will discuss your feeding challenges, concerns and goals, thoroughly review both your and your baby’s health history, work collaboratively to evaluate the photos and videos you have provided, and I will walk you through performing a gentle (and respectful) functional oral examination of your baby along with an assessment of their feeding reflexes. A feed on the breast or the bottle may be observed, with instantaneous feedback given to improve positioning, latch, and milk transfer. Together, we will devise a plan of care that includes actionable steps your family can immediately implement as you work towards your individual feeding goals. Referrals to trusted colleagues in the Denver area for additional care will be provided as needed.

During our visit, having a helper on hand to assist with positioning the camera as needed is very beneficial, in addition to being in an area with adequate lighting and a strong internet connection. Please have accessible anything you need to feed your baby.

Empowering support for you and your baby

Wherever you are on your parenting journey, I’ll meet you right there with individualized and supportive, evidence-based breastfeeding care. I’m skilled and experienced in breast and nipple pain, latch and positioning challenges, managing slow weight gain, working with both low supply and oversupply, clogged ducts and mastitis, tongue tie and/or lip tie, twins and higher-order multiples, co-nursing, inducing lactation and re-lactation, bottle refusal, and questions about pumping milk and returning to work. I also have a special (and personal) clinical interest in babies born with craniofacial differences.

Inclusive Practice

Roots to Wings Lactation welcomes families of any race, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, family structure, and ability. I believe all babies deserve human milk so if cost is a barrier to you seeking support, please let me know so that we can explore options and available resources. I offer discounted rates for recipients of WIC and Medicaid who need breastfeeding help.
